Interview:
David Kittredge,
director,
"Boorman and the Devil"
Directed by David Kittredge, the documentary Boorman and the Devil chronicles the making of one of Hollywood's most reviled sequels, director John Boorman's 1977 The Exorcist II: The Heretic. Featuring interviews with Boorman and stars Linda Blair and Louise Fletcher, Kittredge dissects the creative decisions, the casting choices, shooting delays, and the off-set issues that resulted in the follow-up to the 1973 horror blockbuster The Exorcist being labeled a cursed production, a critical disaster, and a commercial disappointment. The documentary also features interviews with multiple Heretic crew members, including creative consultant Rospo Pallenberg, and Mike Flanagan, the director of the 2027 Exorcist installment Martyrs. Boorman and the Devil opened Sept. 4 in Austin. David Kittredge previously produced the Shudder documentary series Queer for Fear: The History of Queer Horror. Aired: Sept. 2, 2026.
