The Black Auteur Film Festival
The third annual Black Auteur Film Festival will be held at 2 p.m. June 20 at the AFS Cinema. The film festival features seven shorts by Black filmmakers from Texas, including two from the Austin area (Esther and Fugu); a panel discussion with Jason Perez, the director of the Monkeypaw three-part documentary series High Horse: The Black Cowboy; and a networking mixer. The Black Auteur Film Festival will host its afterparty at 4 p.m. June 21 at Auntie’s House. The Black Auteur Film Festival Showcase was co-founded in 2024 by filmmakers Alex Chew and Ryan Darbonne.
