Interview:
Agata Trzebuchowska,
writer/director,
"Sick"
Directed by Agata Trzebuchowska, the Polish family psychological drama Sick focuses on two teenage siblings, Maks and Emma, charged with caring for their ailing grandmother. Maks slowly comes to suspect that their grandmother is not as sick as everyone believes—or at least not in the way she is believed to be sick. In the meantime, the more time Maks spends alone with his older sister Emma, the more intense their relationship becomes. Sick stars Konrad Kąkol as Maks, Katarzyna Łubik as Emma, and Monika Niemczyk as their grandmother. Sick will screen 5:30 p.m. Sept. 18 and 5:45 p.m. Sept. 24 during Fantastic Fest at the Alamo South Lamar. Polish filmmaker Agata Trzebuchowska makes her feature-length directorial debut with Sick. She previously starred in Paweł Pawlikowski's 2013 Oscar-winning drama Ida and appeared in this year's SXSW Film & TV Festival selection Erupcja.
