"The WeedHacker Massacre"
Move over Leatherface, there’s a new masked madman terrorizing Texas. His name is Pokerface, and his weapon of choice is a customized string trimmer dubbed the WeedHacker. Created by the Texas Chain Saw Massacre star Allen Danziger and Austin-based filmmaker Ray Spivey, the locally shot horror comedy The WeedHacker Massacre pokes fun at Hollywood’s obsession with sequels and remakes with an obvious nod to the venerable franchise launched by Tobe Hooper and Kim Henkel. A long-running vendetta between Pokerface and the Gunther clan of marijuana growers results in the 2014 massacre of 13 college students at a music festival in the small Texas town of Red Eye. Authorities misidentifies their suspect Pokerface as aspiring actor Willie Wonder, who experiences amnesia after taking a bullet to the head during the massacre. The real Pokerface kidnaps Willie, nurses him back to health, but holds him prisoner for years because the lonely killer needs a friend. A decade later, a film crew arrives in Red Eye to shoot yet another remake of a successful and influential horror film based on the 2014 massacre. Willie stumbles upon the film shoot and learns that he is the inspiration behind the franchise’s masked antagonist, WeedHacker Willie. Under the mistaken belief he committed the massacre, Willie all but resorts to murder to halt production of the film. But the film production also prompts Pokerface to renew his feud with the Gunthers. The WeedHacker Massacre stars David Trevino as Willie Wonder, Sean Reyna as Pokerface, Molly Sakonchick as journalist and massacre survivor Candy Kersey, and Allen Danziger as Sheriff Danzinshoes. The WeedHacker Massacre is available to stream on Tubi and is also available for digital/on-demand viewing. Allen Danziger previously starred in Tobe Hooper’s Eggshells and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. He made his first post-Texas Chain Saw Massacre on-screen appearance in director Ray Spivey’s 2023 chiller Storage Locker and also narrated the 2023 comedy Cannibal Comedian. Austin-based filmmaker and artist Ray Spivey previously also co-directed the 2019 thriller Writer’s Block and co-wrote/co-produced the 2016 documentary The Last of the Moonlight Towers. Lockhart-based stunt coordinator and former rodeo cowboy Jody Stelzig makes his directorial debut with The WeedHacker Massacre and co-stars as Gunther clan member Skunk. Aired: Nov. 5, 2025.
