"Charmin Wipes Out a Forest"
To wipe or not to wipe with eco-friendly toilet paper, that is the question Austin-based Steve Mims and producer Brian Rodgers ask with their new advocacy short documentary Charmin Wipes Out a Forest. Mims and Rodgers’ follow-up project to 2022’s Home Depot Destroying the Rainforest for Plywood, Charmin Wipes Out a Forest casts a critical eye at the process Procter & Gamble employs to manufacture its Charmin brand of toilet while platforming environment concerns about P&G’s use of virgin forest fiber from Canada’s old-growth boreal forests. Charmin Wipes Out a Forest is now available to stream on YouTube. Austin-based filmmaker Steve Mims previously directed the documentaries Incendiary: The Willingham Case, Starving the Beast, and Run Like the Devil as well as the narrative comedy Arlo and Julie. Mims and Austin-based producer Brian Rodgers previously collaborated on the short documentary Home Depot Destroying the Rainforest for Plywood. Aired: July 9, 2025.
