Interview:
Shyam Madhav,
director,
"Good Night College"
Directed by Shyam Madhav, the documentary Good Night College captures University of Texas seniors—and some freshmen—at work and at play toward the end of the 2023-24 school year. The documentary focuses on the nighttime activities of friend groups, the UT Men’s Ice Hockey team, the Longhorn Band, KVRX Radio, the SNAFU Improv troupe, the Fuse A Cappella group, and the Redefined Dance Company. Madhav also follows students ready to party at Halstead Co-op, at on-campus residence halls, and at various local bars and music venues. Madhav and his crew shot the majority of the footage on and off the UT campus over the course of 12 hours, beginning on sunset on Friday, April 19, 2024 and ending at sunrise on Saturday, April 20, 2024, two weeks before graduation. Good Night College represents Shyam Madhav’s Moody Honors Program student capstone documentary. Good Night College will receive its world premiere at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Hyperreal Film Club with director Shyam Madhav in attendance. Good Night College will also screen at 10 p.m. Jan. 31 at the Fallout Theater. Waxahachie native Shyam Madhav graduated in May 2024 from UT’s Radio-Television-Film (RTF) program. He is now pursuing a film career in Dallas.
