Finnish director Hanna Bergholm follows up her 2022 chiller Hatching with Nightborn, another horror allegory about the bond between mother and child. In Bergholm's English-language debut, married couple Saga (Seidi Haarla) and Jon (Harry Potter's Rupert Grint) move into the abandoned house in a Finnish forest that Saga's late grandmother owned. Soon after moving into the house, Saga becomes pregnant with a baby boy. Childbirth proves difficult and painful for Saga, portending her inability to connect with her demanding and inconsolable newborn. Much to Jon's concern, Saga soon comes believe that something is not quite right with their son. Nightborn will premiere July 31 on Shudder. Finnish actress Seidi Haarla starred in the 2021 drama Compartment No. 6. Hanna Bergholm previously directed Hatching from a script by her Nightborn co-writer Ilja Rautsi. Aired: July 29, 2026.
