Interview:
Saladin K. Patterson,
showrunner,
"King of the Hill"
Welcome home Hank Hill, it’s great to have you and yours back in Arlen, Texas. The Mike Judge-Greg Daniels-created animated sitcom King of the Hill returns after a 15-year hiatus with 10 new episodes now streaming on Hulu. For 13 seasons, propane salesman, moderate conservative, and proud Texan Hank Hill struggled to keep up with an ever-changing America. Now Hank finds himself out of place in a Texas he does not recognize after spending almost a decade working in propane in Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, Hank’s dutiful wife Peggy tries to find meaning in her retirement years. Then there is Hank and Peggy’s son Bobby, now 21 and eager to make a name for himself as the head chef at a Japanese-German fusion restaurant he co-owns. With Saladin K. Patterson serving as showrunner, the 14th season of King of the Hill finds Mike Judge returning as Hank, Kathy Najimy as Peggy, and Pamela Adlon as Bobby. Toby Huss is recast as Hank’s paranoid friend and drinking buddy Dale Gribble, replacing the late Johnny Hardwick. Ronny Chieng takes over the role of Laotian-American neighbor Kahn from Huss. The 14th season also pays tribute to John Redcorn voice actor Jonathan Joss, who was killed June 1 in his native San Antonio. King of the Hill showrunner Saladin K. Patterson previously wrote for Frazier and The Bernie Mac Show. He created the 2021-2023 revival of The Wonder Years. Aired: Aug. 6, 2025. Web site: https://www.hulu.com/ |
