Interview:
Rod Blackhurst,
co-writer/director,
"Dolly"
In Rod Blackhurst’s backwoods slasher Dolly, Chase’s (Seann William Scott) proposal plans go awry when he and his girlfriend Macy (Fabian’s Therese) are attacked during a hike by a maniac wearing a porcelain doll mask. Dolly leaves Chase to die in the woods as they drag the unconscious Macy to their secluded house in the woods. Macy wakes up dressed like a baby in a doll-filled bedroom. She soon receives an ominous warning from a man imprisoned in the next bedroom: play Dolly’s game, and let them treat her as their baby daughter, or suffer the chilling consequences. Dolly also stars professional wrestler Max the Impaler as the titular antagonist. Co-written by Brandon Weavil, Dolly will screen at 2:20 p.m. Sept. 25 at the Alamo South Lamar during Fantastic Fest. Rod Blackhurst previously directed the 2023 thriller Blood for Dust, the 2016 survival drama Here Alone, the 2016 Netflix documentary Amanda Knox, and the 2021 documentary miniseries John Wayne Gacy: Devil in Disguise. He is currently developing a follow-up to Dolly.
