Interview:
Ric Roman Waugh,
director,
"Greenland 2: Migration"
Directed by former Austinite Ric Roman Waugh, Greenland 2: Migration follows the continuing survival efforts of the Garrity family in the wake of an extinction-level comet strike. The world remains unsafe outside the massive bunker in Greenland that the Garritys have called home for the past five years. Electromagnetic storms destroy everything in its path. Shifting tectonic plates cause unexpected earthquakes. Radioactive fallout makes the air harmful. When the bunker finally collapses, the Garritys flee Greenland in search of a new permanent home. Their destination: France, where the crater caused by the Clarke comet offers a safe and stable environment for humanity to settle and rebuild. At least that’s the scientific theory that compels the Garritys to undertake a dangerous trek across sea and land. This sequel to the 2020 disaster thriller Greenland sees the return of Gerald Butler as structural engineer John Garrity and Morena Baccarin as his wife Allison. Jojo Rabbit’s Roman Griffin Davis joins the cast as the Garrity’s 15-year-old son Nathan. Greenland 2: Migration opened Jan. 9 theaters. A stuntman turned filmmaker, former Austinite Ric Roman Waugh previously directed Kandahar, National Champions, Greenland, Angel Has Fallen, Shot Caller, Snitch, Felon, In the Shadows, and the documentary That Which I Love Destroys Me. His next film, the Jason Statham thriller Shelter, will open Jan. 30 in theaters.
