Interview:
Ric Roman Waugh,
director,
"Shelter"
In former Austinite Ric Roman Waugh’s new thriller Shelter, Jason Statham’s former off-the-books secret operative Mason is forced out of hiding when a British government surveillance system mistakenly identifies him as a known terrorist. Mason goes on the run with Jessie (Hamnet’s Bodhi Rae Breathnach), a teenage girl he has sworn to protect after her uncle's accidental drowning. Hot on Mason’s trail is his ex-handler, disgraced MI6 boss Manafort (Bill Nighy), who wants Mason dead before he can expose their past rogue operations. Shelter also stars Mickey 17’s Naomi Ackie as Manafort’s successor Roberta. Shelter opens tomorrow in theaters. A stuntman turned filmmaker, former Austinite Ric Roman Waugh previously directed Greenland and this year’s sequel Greenland 2: Migration, Kandahar, National Champions, Angel Has Fallen, Shot Caller, Snitch, Felon, In the Shadows, and the documentary That Which I Love Destroys Me.
