Pan African Film Festival 2024
After making its debut last year at the AFS Cinema, the L.A.-based Pan African Film + Arts Festival returns to Austin on Aug. 15 with its second satellite event, the Pan African Film Festival 2004. The festival, featuring a six features and a selection of shorts that will screen Aug. 15-17 through Saturday, opens with the Luther Vandross biography Luther and closes with the narrative André Holland- Andra Day drama Exhibiting Forgiveness. The Harry Belafonte portrait Following Harry, the concert film A Wu-Tang Experience: Live at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and the documentaries African Glory and One Person, One Vote? The festival closes Sunday with the panel “Don’t Rest on Your Laurels—How to Successfully Navigate Films Festivals at 4 p.m. Aug. 18 at Austin Public. Founded in 1992 by Danny Glover, Good Times star Ja’Net DuBois, and executive director Ayuko Babu, the Pan African Film + Arts Festival celebrates the work of Black filmmakers and artists every February in L.A. during Black History Month.
