Interview:
Olivia Nash,
star/writer/director,
"Hi."
Austin-based actress Olivia Nash makes her feature-length writing and directorial debut with Hi., a romantic dramedy about an aspiring writer struggling to navigate past family trauma. Lavender Lark (Nash) returns to her Massachusetts coastal hometown for the summer to work at the family bakery run by her ailing father, Peter (Charles Edwin Powell). Lavender comes from a family of creatives: Peter is also a fine artist, Lavender’s mother Kat (Brandie Louck) is a Pulitzer Prize-winning best-selling author, and Lavender’s younger brother Daniel (Chase Pollock ) shares Lavender’s ambitions to become a writer. Lavender remains estranged from Kat, blaming her not just for tearing apart her family but for her father’s fragile health. But Lavender is forced to confront her estranged relationship with Kat when Daniel needs their help to tackle his personal demons. Enter Dylan (Paul Grant), a published author and a bookstore worker whose romantic and creative interest in Lavender offers her solace from her problems at home. The Austin-shot Hi. is now available for digital and on-demand viewing. Austin-based actress Olivia Nash previously wrote and directed two shorts, El Delirio and Hi., the latter of which served as a proof of concept for the feature version of Hi. She also starred in the 2021 disaster film Meteor and the 2021 short Fanfic.
