![]() Nominated for Best Original Screenplay at this year's Academy Awards, former TV journalist Moritz Binder makes his feature-length film writing debut with September 5, the fact-based ticking-clock drama about the 1972 Olympic Summer Games terrorist attack in his hometown of Munich. Directed by Tim Fehlbaum, September 5 chronicles ABC Sports' unprecedented live coverage of the Black September's attack on the Olympic Village, resulting in the Palestinian militant organization killing two Israeli athletes and taking hostage nine other members of the team. ABC Sports Jim McKay appears as himself in archival footage that aired during the terrorist attack. September 5, which premiered locally during the 2024 Austin Film Festival, opened Jan. 17 in Austin theaters and is now available for digital/on-demand viewing. Moritz Binder previously developed the 2024 German comedy Alles Fifty Fifty and wrote for various TV series in his native Germany.
