Interview:
Michael Kvamme,
writer/director,
"Operation Taco Gary's"
Directed by Michael Kvamme, the conspiracy comedy Operation Taco Gary's stars Red Rocket's Simon Rex and Schitt’s Creek's Dustin Milligan as estranged brothers on the run from the authorities and, at least in Rex's mind, a malevolent secret organization working against humanity. Dull and steadfast Luke (Milligan) is preparing to relocate from the United States to Canada for an exciting new job opportunity when his wayward, fast-talking conspiracy theorist brother Danny (Rex) arrives out of nowhere years after they last spoke. Danny claims he has stolen an invaluable item from the so-called Coalition and needs Luke's help crossing the U.S.-Canada border. Luke, of course, does not believe Danny but allows him to hitch a ride with him to Ottawa so they can play catch-up. But Luke quickly learns there is more to Danny's paranoid behavior that meets the eye. Operation Taco Gary's also stars The Suite Life on Deck's Brenda Song as Allison, a so-called "badger" Luke hires to smuggle him across the border, and American Pie's Jason Biggs as a fictional villainous version of himself. The titular fast-food joint also plays a pivotal role in the comedy. Operation Taco Gary's screens at 9:45 p.m. Oct. 25 at the State Theatre and at 4 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Galaxy Austin Theatres during the Austin Film Festival. Operation Taco Gary's represents Michael Kvamme’s feature-length directorial debut. Posted: Oct. 23, 2024. Web sites: http://www.austinfilmfestival.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AustinFilmFestival |
