Written and directed by Austin-based filmmaker Maurice Moore, the Texas small-town psychological thriller Finding Solace finds a police detective struggling with her past demons in the wake of her father’s suicide. Under investigation for an officer-involved shooting, Austin detective Simone Solace (Kelly Dealyn) returns to her native New Liberty to bury her father and attempt to reconcile with estranged sister Alexa (Marissa Falsone). At the same time, New Liberty is experiencing a series of strange killings involving prominent members of the community. The murders threaten to bring to the surface the dark and ugly side of New Liberty’s history. Finding Solace also stars writer/director Maurice Moore as Antonio “Boogie” Johnson, a former high school track star now paralyzed from the waist up and required to use a wheelchair. Finding Solace screens at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8 at the Galaxy Theatres Austin during the Austin Action Fest & Market.
