Interview:
Lisa Belcher,
director,
"House of Abraham"
Austin-based director Lisa Belcher’s psychological thriller House of Abraham focuses on a group of despondent or dying people who turn to an enigmatic cult leader (screenwriter Lukas Hassel) to help them commit suicide one by one. The group must first gather at Abraham’s remote compound in preparation for him to end each person's life in a manner of their choosing. But Abraham's unsettling style and methods so rattle the terminally ill Dee (Natasha Henstridge) that she begins to suspect nothing is quite what it seems. House of Abraham also stars Lin Shaye as Abraham's devoted housekeeper Beatrice and The Virginian cast member Gary Clarke as Victor, one of Abraham’s weekend guests. House of Abraham will screen at 6:45 p.m. Nov. 14 at the AFS Cinema during the Ethereal Horror Fest. House of Abraham is also available for digital/on-demand viewing. Lisa Belcher, who makes her feature-length director debut with House of Abraham, previously directed the short films The Gift, Javelina Run, and Guest of Honor, which starred and was co-written by House of Abraham’s Lukas Hassel.
