Interview:
Kerry Bellessa,
writer/director,
"Amber Alert"
A narrative remake of his 2012 found footage thriller of the same name, writer/director Kerry Bellessa’s Amber Alert focuses on the cat-and-mouse game that develops and a ride-share driver and his passenger and the man whom they believed has kidnapped a young girl. About to clock off for the day, Shane (Tyler James Williams) accepts on off-the-books ride request from Jaq (Hayden Panettiere) in exchange for a tip big enough to buy his son a video-game for his birthday. Soon after she receives an amber alert, Jaq spots a black car that could possibly be the vehicle used for a kidnapping earlier that the afternoon. With the police initially dismissing her sighting, Jaq persuades Shane to follow the car so she can confirm or allay her suspicions. But the driver quickly realizes he is being followed. Amber Alert opened Sept. 27 in theaters and is also available for digital/VOD viewing. In addition to co-writing and directing both versions of Amber Alert, Kerry Bellessa directed the 2022 sic-fi chiller Immanence.
