Lost River Film Fest
Spotlighting socially conscious and politically relevant narrative and documentary films, especially Texas-made features and shorts, the Lost River Film Fest will run Feb. 5-8 in San Marcos at the Price Center and the TXST Theatre Center in San Marcos. The festival opens Feb. 5 with a 50th anniversary screening of director Gordon Parks’ Hays County-shot musical biopic Leadbelly, starring Roger E. Mosley as blues singer Huddie Ledbetter. The Inquisitor, a documentary about the late U.S. Congresswoman Barbara Jordan from Houston, will close the festival on Feb. 8. The lineup also includes the documentaries Prodigal Daughter, Night in West Texas, Seeds of Liberation, and Steal this Story, Please as well as the narrative features Pleasure, Bye and the Austin-shot A Game in the Woods. Director Ari Aster’s Eddington will receive a retrospective screening on Feb. 7. The festival also includes multiple themed narrative and documentary shorts packages focusing on topical issues or made by local/regional/Texas filmmakers.
