Interview:
John Valley,
writer/director,
"American Dollhouse"
Moving to a new house means getting to know new neighbors. But what if one of your neighbors is more creepy than kooky? In Austin-based writer/director John Valley’s locally shot chiller American Dollhouse, Hailley Lauren’s Sarah inherits a dilapidated house from her mother. Sarah’s brother Michael (Tinus Seaux) doesn’t understand why she wants to renovate the house, given Sarah’s estrangement from their mother, but Sarah is desperate to put down roots. Sarah’s efforts to settle into her new home are hinder by her neighbor Sandy, a strange and highly agitated woman played by Kelsey Pribilski. Sandy seems overly obsessed with Sarah’s house, to the point she harasses Sarah about her lack of outdoor Christmas decorations. Sarah vows to ignore Sandy—until it is impossible to ignore Sandy. American Dollhouse also stars Tinus Seaux as Michael and Danielle Evon Ploeger as Sarah’s concerned best friend Avery. The Austin-shot American Dollhouse will screen at 10:30 p.m. March 14 at the Alamo South Lamar, 8:30 p.m. March 16 at the AFS Cinema, and 10:30 p.m. March 17 at the Alamo South Lamar during the SXSW Film & TV Festival. Austin-based filmmaker John Valley previously directed 2021’s The Pizzagate Massacre and 2009’s Diary of a Superhero. Aired: March 11, 2026.
