Interview:
Jérémy Clapin,
writer/director,
"Meanwhile on Earth"
French animator Jérémy Clapin makes his live-action, feature-length directorial debut with Meanwhile on Earth, a grounded sci-fi meditation on grief, dreams deferred, and the value of one life against others. Elsa (Megan Northam) drifts from one day to the next, haunted by the disappearance of her astronaut brother Franck (Yoan Germain Le mat) in outer space. Franck will forever be immortalized as a hero; Elsa has abandoned her artistic ambitions and resigned herself to a life of mediocrity. Elsa is shook from her waking slumber when she encounter san alien life form (voiced by Dimitri Doré) that offers to reunite her with Franck. But there is a heavy price to pay. Meanwhile on Earth opened Nov. 8 in Austin theaters. Jérémy Clapin previously directed the 2019 animated character study I Lost My Body and multiple animated short films. Posted: Nov. 8, 2024.
