New French Cinema Week 2025
The 10th anniversary New French Cinema Week, which highlights features and shorts by new and emerging filmmakers, runs Nov. 20-23 at the AFS Cinema. The Austin Film Society’s annual celebration of Francophone cinema opens Nov. 20 with Nino, with director Pauline Loquès in attendance, and closes Nov. 23 with the Cannes prize-winning The Little Sister. The festival also includes the narratives features Ghost Trail, The Girl in the Snow, and The Ties That Bind Us as well as a package of short films. Other French selections screening at the AFS Cinema in November and December include Robert Bresson’s 1971 drama Four Nights of a Dream, Francois Ozon’s 2002 ensemble whodunit 8 Women in 35mm, and Austin Film Society founder Richard Linklater’s Breathless making-of drama Nouvelle Vague in 35mm.
