"Hell of a Summer"
Drawing inspiration from Shaun of the Dead, and both celebrating and sending up the slashers of the 1980s, Finn Wolfhard and Billy Bryk’s Hell of a Summer finds a group of young camp counselors stalked by a mysterious masked killer. Framed for the brutal killing spree: Fred Hechinger’s try-hard counselor Jason. So Jason sets out to unmask the real killer before he becomes one of their victims. Hell of a Summer also stars Finn Wolfhard, Billy Bryk, Reservation Dogs’ D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, and Knock at the Cabin’s Abby Quinn. Hell of a Summer opened April 4 in theaters. Hell of a Summer represents the feature directorial debut of Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard and Billy Bryk after previously collaborating on the 2020 short Night Shifts and appearing in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, When You Finish Saving the World, and Saturday Night. Finn Wolfhard will next appear in The Legend of Ochi and the final season of the Netflix series Stranger Things. Billy Bryk will next appear in the dark comedy Friendship. Fred Hechinger has starred in Nickel Boys, Kraven the Hunter, Gladiator II, Thelma, the Fear Street Trilogy, and Season 1 of The White Lotus.
