![]() An idiosyncratic costume comedy inspired by Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein,” co-writer/director Grace Glowicki’s Dead Lover finds a lowly Gravedigger (Glowicki) conspiring to resurrect her rich and handsome soulmate (co-writer Ben Petire) after he drowns at sea. But all the Gravedigger has to work with are her Lover’s severed finger and a homemade elixir made from various lizard parts. Shot on a soundstage, Dead Lover features Petire, Leah Doz, and Lowen Morrow playing multiple roles opposite Glowicki. U.S. Girls’ Meghan Remy provides music for the film. Dead Lover screens during the SXSW Film & TV Festival at 7 p.m. March 9 at the Alamo South Lamar, at 8:15 p.m. March 10 at the AFS Cinema, and at 9:30 p.m. March 12 at the Alamo South Lamar. Grace Glowicki previously wrote, directed, and starred in Tito, which also co-starred her creative and domestic partner Ben Petire. Glowicki and Petire will next appear together Dusty Manicelli and Madeleine Sims-Fewer’s Honey Bunch as well as The Heirloom, which Petire directed. Posted: March 9, 2025.
