Co-written and directed by the Austin-based filmmaker Evan Miller, the drama Due West stars Adrianne Palicki as a Texas woman enduring a life-altering crisis. Forced to turn to the black market to resolve matters, Palicki embarks on a long drive across West Texas to purchase the prescription medication she urgently needs. But then her truck breaks down in the middle of nowhere. Due West also stars Henry Thomas as Palicki’s empathetic pastor, Big Time Rush’s Ciara Bravo as a stranger who helps Palicki during her hour in need, Matt Lauria as Palicki’s brother, Odette Annable as Palicki’s sister-in-law, Austin Nichols as Palicki’s brother-in-law, and the late Bill Wise as a local bar patron. Due West counts among its producers ATX Film Festival founders Emily Gipson and Caitlin McFarland, who is married to co-writer/director Evan Miller. Frequent Richard Linklater collaborator and Oscar nominee Sandra Adair edited the film. Shot in Austin, Marfa, and Alpine, Due West opens July 23 for a limited theatrical run at the Violet Crown Cinema, with co-writer/director Evan Miller and star Adrianne Palicki participating in a Q&A after the 7 p.m. July 23 screening. Due West will also be available for digital/on-demand viewing beginning July 28. Austin-based filmmaker Evan Miller, who makes his feature-length directorial debut with Due West, previously directed the 2022 short Thoughts & Prayers starring Adrianne Palicki and Zachary Levi.
