The third annual Comedy Film Festival runs May 8-10 at the AFS Cinema and the Hyperreal Film Club. The festival opens May 8 at the AFS Cinema with the Lone Star State Showcase, featuring director Josh Flanagan’s Austin-shot mockumentary Pickleheads and the shorts Fisher of Men, The Real Witch, and The Time Capsule. Three comedy specials will screen at the Hyperreal Film Club: Will Wood’s Slouching Towards Branson, the first episode of Shane Mauss’ TRIPS, and the hybrid documentary/stand-up film Anxiety Club. The Hyperreal Film Club also will host shorts blocks devoted to romance, dramedies, horror, the absurd, and sketch comedy. A panel, a pitch session, brunch, and an awards ceremony will be held at ColdTowne Theater.
