Black Pistol Fire drummer Eric Owen continues his foray into filmmaking with his sophomore directorial effort, the Austin-area shot kidnapping thriller In a Cold Vein. Evan Gamble stars as kidnapping victim Dean, who wakes up bound and gagged in the back of a van. His kidnappers, Phil and Steve, plan to kill him and dispose of his body. But Dean is less concerned about his immediate fate, or who orchestrated his kidnapping, than he is with the whereabouts of his young son Jack. With Phil and Steve refusing to tell him what happened to Jack, Dean plots his escape from his kidnappers so he can find Jack. In a Cold Vein also stars Owen’s Thirst lead Brian Villalobos as Phil, P. Michael Hayes II as Steve, And Her Body Was Never Found’s Mor Cohen as Dean’s wife Darla, Cliff Dean as Dean’s brother Bruce, and Griffon Ethridge as Jack. In a Cold Vein is available for digital/on-demand viewing beginning July 17. Eric Owen is the drummer for Austin rock duo Black Pistol Fire, which released their seventh album “Flagrant Act of Bliss” in January. Owen made his feature directorial debut with the Austin-shot 2023 psychological drama Thirst. He will shoot his third film, the found-footage hybrid slasher Contained, in August in Joshua Tree, Calif., with his In a Cold Vein star Evan Gamble. Aired: July 15, 2026.
