"Jaws" on the Water
Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water at Volente Beach Resort and Waterpark … along comes the return of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Rolling Roadshow’s Jaws on the Water screenings. Revived for the 50th anniversary of Steven Spielberg’s 1975 shark drama, the once-annual Jaws on the Water screenings will terrorize tubers at Volente Beach Resort and Waterpark beginning June 7 and continuing on June 21, July 12, and July 26. Doors open at 5 p.m. Back on dry land, the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema will launch its Great Bites series in July. Devoted to the best in sharksploitation and “Jaws with Paws” rip-offs, the Great Bites series kicks off at 7 p.m. July 1 at various venues with Joe Dante’s Piranha and continues with Renny Harlin’s Deep Blue Sea on July, the John Sayles-written Alligator on July 15, the bear-gone-wild cult classic Grizzly on July 22, and Blake Lively’s The Shallows on July 29.
