Chris McInroy,
writer/director,
"Skeeter"
Is there anything worse than hanging out in your backyard on a lovely summer’s afternoon and being pestered by mosquitoes? In Austin-based writer/director Chris McInroy’s latest horror-comedy short Skeeter, a backyard get-together takes a deadly turn when one of the friends gets upset for being othered because he was raised by mosquitoes. The splatter-fest stars Kyle Irion as Skeeter, who calls upon his unusual family members to help him exact his revenge upon his hurtful friends. The cast also includes Sarah Yoakley, Jamie Meeks, and Chris McInroy regular Carlos Larotta. Skeeter screens at 1:45 p.m. Sept. 22 and 11 a.m. Sept. 24 at the Alamo South Lamar as part of the Fantastic Shorts program during Fantastic Fest. Austin-based writer/director Chris McInroy previously directed last year's Fantastic Fest selection We Joined a Cult, the Scare Package segment “One Time in the Woods,” and Guts, a 2023 FANGORIA Chainsaw Award nominee for Best Short. He also directed the shorts We Forgot About the Zombies, We Summoned a Demon, Death Metal, and Bad Guy # 2.
