![]() Directed by Austin-based video journalist Chris Beier, the Laredo-set thriller The Ego Death of Queen Cecilia focuses on the desperate efforts undertaken by the titular content creator and influencer to reverse her decline in popularity and YouTube hits. Played by newcomer Jo Schaeffer, Queen Cecilia believes she can regain lost followers and broaden her audience through a rebrand. But the prohibitive cost of hiring the right publicist for the job pushes Queen Cecilia to take extreme measures. And this quickly lands her in trouble with some local drug traffickers. The Ego Death of Queen Cecilia screens at 8:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Rollins Theatre at the Long Center and at 8:45 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Galaxy Theatres Austin during the Austin Film Festival.
