"$Positions"
![]() Easy money comes and easy money goes in $Positions, writer/director Brandon Daley’s anxiety inducing comic study of genetic addiction. Amateur crypto trader Mike (Michael Kunicki) does not know when to stop. One minute he’s up big, the next he’s lost everything and unintentionally hurting everyone around him with his financial gambles. When his alcoholic father needs urgent medical treatment, Mike risks all his assets—and those belonging to family members—to pay the mounting hospital bills. But the more Mike trades, the deeper in trouble he gets and worse he makes life for his brother Vinnie and his cousin Travis. $Positions also stars Vinny Kress as Vinnie, an adult with Down syndrome; Trevor Dawkins as Travis, who is in recovery for heroin addiction; and Kaylyn Carter as Mike’s long-suffering girlfriend Charlene. $Positions screens during the SXSW Film & TV Festival at the Alamo South Lamar at 10 p.m. March 8, 11:15 a.m. March 10, and 5:45 p.m. March 14. Brandon Daley makes his feature-length directorial debut with $Positions. Aired: March 8, 2025. Web sites: https://schedule.sxsw.com/2025/films/2206102 |
