August 2025 Programming
The Austin Film Society's August 2025 programming at the AFS Cinema is highlighted by the series Leos Carax: The Alex Trilogy and Time Passes: Thirty-Five Years With Tsai Ming-Liang. The July 2025 series On Our Way to Where: Women of '70s Cinema and Newly Restored Kurosawa continue into August. Special screenings include the animated oddity Cryptozoo, with director Dash Shaw in attendance, and the Austin-shot adaptation of ancient Greek playwright Aristophanes's comedy The Wasps, with director Jake Binstock and Parker Rouse and executive producer Richard Linklater in attendance. New releases include Cloud, Folktales, Harvest, and the Paper Cuts selection Us and the Night. Repertory screenings include Donnie Darko, In the Mood for Love (paired with the short film In the Mood for Love 2001), Ladies and the Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains, Persona, A Room with a View, Shanghai Blues, and the Fright Club selection Horror Express, and Queer Cinema: Lost & Found selection Chained Girls. Lates selections comprise of Butterfly Kiss, Gwen and the Book of Sand, In My Skin, Rampo Noir, and The Tragedy of Man.
