![]() The Austin Film Society's April 2025 programming at the AFS Cinema is highlighted by the series AFS Presents: "Canuxploitation: Canadian Tax Shelter Movies," featuring The Brood, Class of 1984, Deadline, East End Hustle, and Seizure. From late March through the end of April, the AFS Cinema will welcome Austin-based Andrew Bujalshi for a 10th anniversary screening of his locally shot comedy Results; Austin-based script supervisor Anne Rapp for a screening of the David Byrne-directed True Stories; and former Austin-based filmmaker Kyle Henry for screenings of his highly personal documentary Time Passages. Director Allan Arkush (Hollywood Boulevard, Rock 'n' Roll High School, Heartbeeps, Caddyshack II) will attend a screening of his 1983 comedy Get Crazy. AFS founder Richard Linklater hosts a screening of the documentary Henry Fonda for President with filmmakers Alexander Horwath and Regina Schlagnitweit in attendance. New releases include the SXSW Film & TV Festival 2024 selection Secret Mall Apartment. Repertory screenings include the double bill Staccato Purr of the Exhaust and Pretty Vacant co-presented by the Austin-based nonprofit American Short Fiction,Compensation, Fantastic Planet, Ghost in the Shell, Heavy Metal, The Last Temptation of Christ, Raising Arizona, The Silence of the Lambs, Singin' in the Rain, Tenebre, the uncut version of Who Killed Teddy Bear?, and Young Frankenstein. Lates selections include Mermaid Legend, Nightshift, and The Crazy Family.
