"Uvalde Mom"
![]() Directed by Anayansi Prado, the documentary Uvalde Mom focuses on Angeli Rose Gomez’s struggles in the aftermath of running into the Robb Elementary to rescue her two sons during the May 2022 Uvalde school shooting. Prado examines the harassment Gomez says she has endured from local authorities after she criticized Uvalde law enforcement for their response to the school shooting, including the filing of alleged probation violations that led to Gomez being jailed. The documentary also delves deep into Uvalde’s history as a community divided along racial lines. Uvalde Mom screens at 6 p.m. March 14 at the Hyatt Regency during the SXSW Film & TV Festival. Anayansi Prado previously directed the documentaries Maid in America, Paraiso for Sale, and The Unafraid.
