Indie Meme Film Festival
Devoted to South Asian independent cinema, the Indie Meme Film Festival begins April 14 with a youth program and continues April 26 to 28 at the AFS Cinema with a lineup of narrative and documentary features and shorts from Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the United States. On April 14, the festival features five short films made by young filmmakers as well as the family film Chuskit from India. The festival opens in earnest on April 26 with the Indian drama The Last Color, with filmmaker Vikas Khanna in attendance, and closes April 28 with the Indian dramedy Kaamyaab. The centerpiece film is Her. Him. The Other, a drama from Sri Lanka, with filmmaker Prasanna Vithanage in attendance. Other narrative features include Half Widow, Jirga, Jonaki, Namdev Bhau in Search in Silence, and Yours Truly. Documentaries include Indus Blues and The Sound Man – Mangesh Desai.
