Interview:
Alexandre Aja,
director,
"Never Let Go"
In director Alexandre Aja’s supernatural chiller Never Let Go, Halle Berry embraces her maternal instincts as the mother of two children trapped in a cabin in a forest that is haunted by malevolent force. During daylight hours, Momma and her twin sons Nolan (Percy Daggs IV) and Samuel (Anthony B. Jenkins) venture out into the forest to hunt for food. They remain safe from harm as long as they are tethered together by a rope fastened to the cabin’s foundations. At least that’s what Momma tells her sons. But as Nolan and Samuel grow hunger and desperate, and see no evidence of the evil that lurks in the forest, they begin to question Momma’s state of mind. Never Let Go, which premiered locally during this year's Fantastic Fest, opened Sept. 20. French filmmaker Alexandre Aja previously directed the remakes of The Hills Have Eyes and Piranha as well as Oxygen, Crawl, The 9th Life of Louis Drax, the Fantastic Fest selection Horns, Mirrors, High Tension, and Furia. He is currently developing Crawl 2.
